Tiswas newsThe Tiswas Album reviewed by Matt!

Well, the Tiswas Album is released next week, which is a 60 track compilation of pop music during the Tiswas era. It's out from Virgin EMI on Monday 30th November, available as a 3-CD pack or MP3 download.

All the artists on the album appeared on Tiswas. Of particular interest to Tiswas fans are two tracks very specific to the show - The Bucket Of Water Song by the Four Bucketeers, and Bright Eyes, covered by Matthew Butler.

Speaking of Matthew, we've spent all of last week creating a website for him, spurred on by this re-release of his classic song on the album!

On this new Tiswas-related site, we gave Matt a copy of the Tiswas Album to review. There's also plenty of video clips to enjoy!

Tiswas newsTarrant Lets The Kids Loose - on "Watch".

picture
Chris Tarrant is back with a brand new show on the UKTV channel Watch. "Tarrant Lets The Kids Loose" will air every week from Sunday 4th October 2009 at 6pm.

From the official press release:

Presented by Tiswas entertainer and Who Wants to be Millionaire host Chris Tarrant, the eight-part series gives three- to six-year-olds the green light to fulfil their greatest ambitions in the adult world; whether running a photographic studio, a radio station or an ice-cream van!

Chris Tarrant said of the new series, “They say never work with kids or animals. But you know what? They’re wrong! Kids are funny, magical and always surprising. What parent hasn’t told an anecdote about the funny things their children say? This show totally captures the spirit and the inherent comedy of children – it’s the kind of family entertainment I love”.

Each child’s task is created with parents, creating dream challenges designed to give the little ones a taste of independence, and letting them achieve things they never knew they could. And with the innocence of youth, each child’s response to their position of authority is completely unpredictable and utterly charming. It’s only when the children sit in the live studio audience with their families that they realise that their surreal, fantastical day was actually part of the show.

Building Watch’s entertainment strategy, Tarrant Lets the Kids Loose has been commissioned by UKTV’s Lisa Perrin, director of commissioning, entertainment and ordered by director of entertainment, Christian Drobnyk and Watch channel head, Paul Moreton. Tarrant Lets the Kids Loose is produced by North One TV, an All 3 Media company.

Watch was launched by the UKTV network in October 2008 and is now the 4th largest pay-only entertainment channel in Sky homes, behind only Sky 1, G.O.L.D. and Living. The channel continues to build its viewership, with a 14% growth in average daily viewers in 2009, compared to 2008.

Tarrant Lets the Kids Loose began filming in front of a live studio audience in July and premieres on Watch on 4th October 2009.

Our EPISODE GUIDE pages now has details for all shows from the 1970s, plus January and February 1980. Marvel at how Tiswas had guests such as The Clash, Graham Chapman, Andy Gray, Andrew Sachs, Annie Lennox and Elvis Costello.

This is all thanks to Tiswas superfan Dave Clark, and my apologies must go to him, as I've only just put the details on after many months of having them! D'oh!

Random Tiswas fact:
By the time the show was breathing its last in 1982, it was being broadcast all over ITV, except in the south-west of England, and the Channel Islands, as both TSW and Channel Television opted out of the Tiswas feed.
