Andrew's offer - 2 discs

Postby staplingmachine on Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:03 pm

Hello all,

I am enormously excited that in the last few weeks two new Tiswases have turned up, previously thought missing. The first show of the 1979-1980 series, courtesy of Paul Heeley and soon to be transferred to disc by Peter Thomas. And 44 minutes of the first show of the following series, courtesy of Mike Murphy. This appears to be a copy of a copy, but Mike cannot lay his hands on the original, and it is perfectly watchable and a lot of fun.

So...

To share the excitement round, if you want these two discs you can have 'em. We are not allowed to make any profit on these, and they mustn't end up on eBay. Also, please try to 'pay them forward' - in other words, if someone joins this site and asks nicely for old episodes, please consider making them copies.

Normally, I would ask for 2 blank discs and stamps, but my laptop is being temperamental and is only accepting one type of disc. So these Tiswases are yours if you bung £1 in an envelope to me, or the equivalent in stamps (doesn't have to be exact). Email me at andrewwooding (at) hotmail (dot) com for my address.

I won't be getting the 1979 show for another week or so, but wanted to give people the chance of getting hold of these as soon as poss.

Anyone got any more shows?

Andrew

I received my copies yesterday, and have had a very pleasant Sunday morning watching them, brilliant stuff! I was especially surprised by the excellent menu and presentation on the DVD of the 1979 episode, it's very well done and professional.

Many thanks to Peter Thomas, staplingmachine, Paul Heeley and Mike Murphy for all of this, let's hope some more episodes turn up soon!

Only one thing: I've now got the out-of-tune "Welcome Home to ITV" jingle running repeatedly in my head...

I like BA Robertson!

While we're in a thank you mode, a belated big thanks for Peter sending me the 1979 show last week.

I don't want it to end, so I've been rationing myself to 10 minutes a day. Excellent show. The lack of Lenny Henry is more than compensated for by lots of Sylvester McCoy.

Wow - nice one. I haven't come across that site before now (which, as a Doctor Who fan in particular, is unusual), but I do like it! Thanks for the mention guys!

They'd be amazed at the number of 'missing' episodes of Tiswas we've 'discovered' since launching this site in 2004. I guess there was never really anywhere to properly catalogue what exists before, it was always difficult because Granada Media (as was) had a difficult job in discovering what they 'officially' held. This was because the former ITC/PolyGram/Carlton library had lost a lost of its documentation during its many 'moves'.

In 2004/5 they confirmed to me that they held "99 elements". This would have ranged from full shows to brief insert clips etc... Kaleidoscope's "Lost Shows" website lists what most of these are. However, ITV are also aware of the various shows and clips that exist in private collections - indeed that's how so many clips managed to be featured in "Tiswas Reunited"

BTW a good list of Tiswas shows, and what exists (both in the archives and in private collections) is regularly updated on our Episode Guide: http://www.tiswasonline.com/episode_guide.php

Hello Hangar 18,

Re-read my original post, specifically the bit about these discs being free (and why), then email me at andrewwooding (at) hotmail (dot) com.

Hi Andrew

Any Luck on getting those episodes to copy? Sent you a email about them a few weeks ago. Not sure if you got it.
